Hand raised and finished from beaten sheet copper and brass. Of waisted form, the dallah is skilfully 'castle' or crimp seamed - brazed and burnished, (see images). This example incorporates a narrow copper spout of scrolling form. The applied strap form copper handle incorporates the cover hinge fulcrum. A pair of ornate square form rivets secure the hinge to the cover. The stepped and raised circular copper and brass cover is fully enclosed - the reeded baluster form brass finial passes centrally through the cover, riveted from below. The cover has retained the original charcoal infill. Two bands of brass banding are applied to the vessel - both sections finished with chiseled decoration. The outer surface has become encrusted with a build-up of coffee and charcoal pitch residue, consistent with genuine age and sustained usage. Internally, the dallah is full tinned. Size: height - 10 1/2" (267mm), max width - 9 7/8" (253mm). Weight - 477 grams. Condition: Good. Signs genuine age and usage, resulting in wear and bruising. No re-working or restoration. Fine natural colour and patina. Internal Ref: IA 1105
