Dating from the mid-second half of the 19th century, this fine example is much larger in size than generally found. Of baluster form, hand raised from beaten sheet copper and incorporating a collet form neck, over which the original cover locates. The surface is embossed with a series of interlocking shaped panels, each one embellished with deeply chiseled floral scrollwork. The recessed areas to the relief cutting are polychrome enamelled - creating a contrasting appearance. Engraved decoration to the exposed areas of copper further embellishes the vessel - the exposed metal lattice, base and neck surface are finely gilded. Height - 8 1/2" (216mm). Weight - 1,000 grams Condition - Good. A small area of white enamel lost to one panel, (image 7). No dents or cracks - no repair work. Fine natural colour and patina. Internal Ref: k 1002
