Cast in two sections, using the 'lost wax' process, this rare example is of the largest proportions that I have seen to date, (the tennis ball gives some idea of scale). The baluster form base section is cast with pierced decoration to the shoulder and incised stylised flowerhead motifs to the 'scalloped' broadest point of the circumference. The foot is also cast with bands of raised floral scrollwork. The tray section locates with the opening to the vessel and is held by an ornate integrally cast collar. This example is complete with a 1967 dated letter of authentication from the British Museum, London - see final image, (the letter will be included with the betel stand to the buyer - name and address of previous owner only obscured in the photo for confidential consideration). Height - 7 1/4" (185mm), max. diameter -13 " (330mm). Weight - 6.4kg (approx). Condition - Very Good. No dents or cracks, (the usual casting flaws). Fine natural colour and patina. Internal Ref: BA 1002
