Description
Hand raised and worked from silver of Sterling (0.925) fineness.The hinged cover face is finished with an inset niello-work panel. Chiseled and finely tooled decoration, cutting through the niello, creates a contrasting appearance. The engraved decoration takes the form of a Buddhist temple and Stupa. The base section is of 'plain' undecorated finish A sprung central thumb catch releases the cover.
Internally, the base section of the casing incorporates a pair of strap lugs - the lugs mounted with a elasticated strap. The cover is engraved with a dated presentation inscription - see additional images.
The cover release catch is clearly stamped, "STERLING".
Size, (external) - W. 3 1/16" (82mm) x H. 4 1/8" (105mm).
Weight: 3.44oz Troy, 106.8 grams.
Condition: Good. Surface marks and small bruises, (consistent with age and usage). No repairs. Natural colour and patina, (not recently cleaned or polished).
