Description
Sectionally cast in copper alloy, (brass) and finished with bands of ring turned decoration. The exceptionally large example incorporates a copper riveted strap type hinge - the hinge mounted with an ornate suspension lug.
Internally, an integral hemispherical cover incorporates a central hole, allowing spatular access to the lime compartment.
This example retains an encrusted build-up of lime, consistent with age and sustained usage.
Maximum width, (cover 'tip' to cover 'tip') - 4 1/2" (115mm).

Condition: Very Good. No repairs and no fatigue or dents. Natural colour and patina.
