Description

Hand formed and worked in high grade Hallmarked silver, the flask is elliptical in section and of unusual construction. The upper portion forms a 'push' mounting outer cover element, firmly locating over a recessed lip to the flask opening. The top 'cap' is finished with a knurled grip surface to the circumference. A slot to the cover and corresponding fixed pin allow the cover to be rotated through a preset 'arc', but not actually removed. This partial rotation allows the pierced holes to the cap to dispense talc, (closed off at the other extreme of rotation).
The flask is embellished with chased and embossed flowers and foliage - the chrysanthemum blossoms and foliage formed over a finely punched ground. A raised slightly convex, (vacant), circular cartouche is positioned centrally below the main cover.
One of the additional images details the Hallmark, (struck centrally to the base) - "SINCERE" (Sincere & Company, Shanghai, Canton, Hong Kong & Peking - c. 1910), Chinese character marks.
Size: height - 3 7/8" (98mm).
Weight - 3.12oz Troy, (96.9 grams).
Condition: Very Good. Minor surface marks etc, (associated with age and usage). No dents or cracks - no repairs. Natural colour and appearance.
Internal Ref: S 1040
