Description
Hand raised from beaten very high grade sheet silver* and resting upon four applied feet of 'hemispherical' form. The semi-circular casing incorporates a hinged cover - a chain-linked pin locks the cover in the closed position via a hasp and staple catch. A large hollow form hinged carry handle is central to the cover face.The casing is richly embellished with highly complex and intricate hand tooled decoration, incorporating pierced and embossed flowering foliate work - traditional stylised animals are depicted amongst the foliage, (see images).
*silver tested at 0.950 (950/1000) purity.
No maker's mark found - fine quality throughout
Size: length - 6 3/8" (162mm), depth - 2 1/2" (69mm), height, (inc. raised handle) - 6 1/8" (155mm).
Weight - 15.1oz Troy, (470.0 grams).
Condition: Very Good. No cracks or dents. No repairs - Fine natural colour and patina.
