Hand carved and finished from a single section of native hardwood timber. This unusual example takes the form of a large standing goblet or chalice. Bands of finely carved geometric decoration are set within a 'dark' field colour. The darkened areas of embellishment are formed by heat 'charring' and burnishing - creating a subtle contrast. The inner surfaces are of natural untreated or undecorated timber. An area of the internal foot structure is printed with initials - possibly those of a previous owner - see images. Height: 10 5/8" (270mm). Weight: 706 grams. Condition: Very Good. Signs of genuine age. No repairs. Natural colour and patina, (No burn't odour or smell, associated with later or reproductions pieces). Internal Ref: TAW 1076
