Description

Hand wrought from beaten and polished sheet brass, this example is much larger in form than generally found. The brush compartment is seamed along the full length of the underside - shaped and rolled, oval in section. Neatly soldered and burnished seams can be clearly seen. A hinged ring and ferrule arrangement is mounted above shaped grip section to the curving brush compartment - the grip base is pierced, (allowing a cord to be fitted).
A folded copper flat pin locks the ink / pigment vessel to the grip - a similar hinged ring is mounted at the joint. The cylinder form vessel incorporates a hinged cover to the opening - the cover also incorporates a folded and shaped closure to the brush compartment.
Overall Length - 15 1/2" (394mm).
Weight - 624 grams.
Condition: Very Good. No dens or cracks - surface marks etc. consistent with age and usage. Natural colour and patina.
