Hand raised and worked from beaten medium grade silver and copper. This example is of typically elliptical form and incorporates a convex press mounting cover. The cover face is finished with embossed scroll form decoration - the scrollwork incorporates a raised central 'flower head'. The base panel is formed from a section of beaten sheet copper. Internally, the box is heavily encrusted with lime residue - consistent with considerable age and sustained usage. Size: length -2 7/8" (73mm), height - 2 1/4" (58mm). Weight: 129 grams. Condition: Good. Surface marks and small bruises, consistent with genuine age and usage. No repairs. Natural colour and patina - completely untouched.
