Description
Hand constructed from split rattan and coated in layers of dense black lac, creating a 'smooth' and even finish. The cover section precisely closes over a recessed extended collet type lip to the opening of the base section - the cover closing to a 'flush' appearance. This example is complete with the original pair of internal trays - the tays of concentric form, locate within the base section's opening.The external surfaces, also the base neck, are finished with finely worked floral scrollwork and concentric rings. Internally, the box is finished in red lac - no embellishment.
Size: Height - 6 3/8" (161mm), diameter - 9" (229mm).
Weight: 966 grams.
Condition: Good. Wear associated with age and usage. No repairs. Natural colour and patina.
