Description
The oil painting depicts native figures seated and standing above steps to the entrance of a 'hall' form village house. The architectural construction is typically of style found in Sabah, Borneo.The lower right corner is signed, "Alf Lansdell" - dated '05 (1905) - An English painter working in Southeast Asia during the late 19th century and early years of the 20th century.
This example is complete with the original gilt-wood frame and labels.
Frame size: 11 1/2" (292mm) x 19 1/2" (495mm).
Total weight - 1446 grams.
Condition: Very Good. No restoration to the artwork - the original pigments / colours vibrant. Some minor surface marks and wear to the frame associated with age etc - no repairs.
