Description
Hand raised and worked from high grade silver. The cup is of tapering form and incorporates cast and applied scrolling bird form handles. A cast figure of a standing Llama is centrally mounted, (native animals and birds often form figurative decoration within the bowl of a keru).
The exterior is finished with a chiseled band of foliate decoration - typical of Spanish colonial silverware.
Kerus are used as blessing cups in weddings, baptisms and most religious Andean ceremonies - this form is generally associated with Bolivia.
Overall width - 3 11/16" (93mm), height - 1 5/8" (42mm).
Weight - 1.38oz Troy, 42.8 grams.
Condition: Good. Signs of genuine age and usage, not recently cleaned or polished. No repairs. Natural colour and patina.
