Circular based, retaining the original turned mahogany inserts and internal 'infil'. The flaring bases are embellished with a band of embossed swags and bosses - a band of narrow petals encircles the shaft bases. The slightly tapering shafts are panel sided and incorporate raised collars at the two extremes. The flaring capitals are also finished with a band of narrow petals. Both examples are complete with the original detachable nozzles - each of which embellished with a band of petals. The surfaces are gilt finished, (the gilding possibly added during the regency period). Hallmark :- Sheffield 1798, Maker - Richard Morton & Co. (makers' mark used 1781 to 1808, first registered Feb. 1781). (Struck to the base rims and both nozzles - see additional images) Height - 8 3/8" (213mm). Total weight - 818 grams. Condition: Good. Surface marks and signs of usage, resulting in expected light wear to the gilding. No repair-work, no cracks or holes etc. Natural colour and patina. Internal Ref: S 1020
