The 'light' in natural colour shaft has been selected by the maker form a suitable native tree - the area at the 'head' junction slightly flaring. The securely mounted head is of shaped and finely hand finished dense hardwood, (probably one of the Ironwood species). This example incorporates decorative white metal embellishments at the upper head extreme and shaft junction - detailed by the additional images. The form, construction and appearance is of a type that I have not seen before. Limited research offers possible links to Zanzibar, though the 'Knobkerrie' appearance is more associated with southern Africa - the materials and construction strongly suggest Asia or the Indian sub-continent as to origin. Overall Length - 23 7/8" (607mm). Weight - 246 grams. Condition: Very Good. A small shrinkage crack to the shaft at the head ferrule - see images. No repairs. Fine natural colour and patina. Internal Ref: TAW 1035
