Description
Of hand raised and finished neo-classical form, 'helmet' shaped and incorporating the original weighted foot. An applied reeded 'C' scroll handle rises from the waisted support to the rim at the opening - the shaped opening incorporates an applied rim of solid form, (also reeded and corresponding with the handle).The broad area below the spout is finely engraved with the original owner's initial, "S" (script form).
An area below the rim is clearly struck with the Hallmark - Sheffield 1793, (Geo. III duty mark), maker's mark - N. S & Co. (Nathaniel Smith & Co. - 1781 to 1808).
Size: height - 5 11/16" (144mm).
Weight - 235 grams.
Condition: Very Good. No dents or cracks. Very minor surface marks etc. consistent with age. No repairs. Good natural colour and patina.
