Woomera, spear thrower:- Selected, carved and shaped from the natural growth of a native mulga-wood tree. The upper face is of typically convex 'trough' form appearance - the surface incorporates the shaping and tooling marks produced by the maker's Tula adze. The upper extreme is tightly mounted with an emu claw - the binding spinifex resin sealed. The grip base is also formed from natural spinifex resin. Overall length: 32" (812mm). Weight: 307 grams Dance spear:- Created from a section of native timber - hand carved and worked. The surface is embellished with applied natural pigments, forming traditional elements to the decoration. Overall length: 30 3/4" (781mm). Weight: 173 grams. Condition: Very Good, (untouched). Signs of genuine age and usage, no repairs - see images. Fine natural colour and 'deep' patina. Internal Ref: O 1015
