Description
Sectionally cast using the 'lost wax' process, this example is of shaped lozenge form. The hinged cover neatly closes over the opening to the box - the hinge pin formed from a copper bar. Internally, the box incorporates an integrally cast division.The cover is cast with a raised and shaped panel - the panel incorporates a stylised central flower head. Inset semiprecious stones form the petals and other elements forming the flower. Hand chiseled foliate decoration embellishes the sides of the box section and remaining cover surfaces.
Size: Length - 6" (153mm).
Weight - 261 grams.
Condition: Good. Very Good. Signs of genuine age and usage. Minor surface marks, also consistent with genuine age and usage. No repairs. Natural colour and patina.
