Hand constructed from copper and brass, with one cover face retaining a central circular silver panel - the traditional form very much in the manner of a 'pocket watch'. The hinged casing is of compressed circular form, elliptical in profile. A hinged catch at the chain linkage mounting lug retains the cover in the closed position - the chain linkage couples with the wrought brass lime spatula. The hinge and clasp mountings are finished with complex chiseled decoration. Internally, the box is encrusted with a build-up of lime. Size: box diameter - 3 1/4" (83mm), overall length, including chain & spatula - 16" (406mm). Weight: 228 grams. Condition: Good. Wear to the cover clasp - consistent with genuine age and sustained usage. No cracks or dents, no repairs. Fine natural colour and patina. Internal Ref: BA 1103
