Hand raised and seamed form heavy gauge beaten sheet copper, this rare example is of baluster form and incorporates an applied and riveted scrolling handle. The tapering 'spout' incorporates a shaped, ornate, opening at the furthest extreme. The surfaces at the shoulder and base of the spout are finished with chiseled floral scroll type decoration. The decorative motifs and form of tooled embellishment is typical of Earlier 17th century Safavid dynasty tastes. A pair of 'Gul' form lozenges embellish the two faces. Size: height - 8 15/16" (227mm), length - 11" (279mm). Weight - 843 grams This example is similar to a lamp featured in the website home page images - from my own collection - and only the second of this form that I have seen to date. Condition: Very Good. No repair work. Signs of soil burial and discolouration consistent with fire, (blue tones). Minor surface marks etc. consistent with genuine age and usage.
