Description

The bowl form base section and corresponding press mounting cover have been created from sections of beaten sheet copper, hand raised and worked by a highly skilled coppersmith. The base section rests upon an applied collet form foot and has retained the original tinning to the interior surfaces. Neatly press mounting into position, the cover is finished with an upper band of broad lotus petals - rising to incorporate the applied urn type knop.
The surface is embellished with bands of intricate foliate designs and geometrics - the highly complex chiseled and chased embellishment includes oval lozenges containing stylised flowers.
The cover is finished with a complex arrangement of pierced venting holes - see images.
Size: height - 7 3/4" (197mm), max diameter - 6" (152mm).
Weight - 532 grams.
Condition: Very Good. No dents or cracks, Minor surface marks etc. consistent with age and usage. Fine natural colour and patina.
