Description
Dating from the mid 19th century, this example is of baluster form - hand raised from beaten sheet copper and incorporating a collet form neck, over which the original convex cover locates.
The surface is embossed with a series of raised and fluted panels, each one embellished with deeply chiseled floral scrollwork. The recessed areas to the relief cutting are polychrome enamelled - creating a contrasting appearance. Engraved decoration to the exposed areas of copper further embellishes the vessel - the exposed metal lattice, base and neck surface are finely gilded.
Height - 6 1/2" (165mm).
Weight - 437 grams
Condition - Very Good. No enamel losses. No dents or cracks - no repair work. Fine natural colour and patina.
