Description

The vessel has been hand raised and formed from heavy gauge beaten sheet brass. Of baluster form, the teapot is horizontally 'crimp' jointed and brazed. The applied scrolling spout is panelled in form, rising from the shoulder. Of hollow form, the brass handle is tightly riveted in position and incorporates ornate shaped copper mountings at the upper and lower extremes to the handle.
The stepped cover neatly locates within the top opening to the vessel - held by a recessed collet type lip. A hand braided copper alloy chain, (original), complete with central coupling, links the cover to a hinged ring type mounting at the handle. The cover is mounted with a large brass 'lotus bud' type knop.
The base of the spout, spout opening, handle base and handle shoulder are embellished with tooled and embossed silver mounts.
Internally, the teapot is fully tinned.
Height - 10 3/4" (273mm), length - 11 1/2" (293mm).
Weight - 1052 grams.
Condition: Good. Signs or genuine age and usage, resulting in surface marks and small bruises, (untouched). Also, a small section of silver lost at the embellishment to the spout opening, (see final image). No repair work. Natural colour and patina.
Internal Ref: H 1010
