Hand raised and finished from wrought copper alloy, (brass). This unusual example incorporates a very large raised central convex boss, (much larger and more pronounced than generally seen). The upper portion of the boss has become 'flattened' from usage, this area taking the 'strike' over many years. The boss is flanked by a pair of applied finely cast brass flower heads, mounted from the reverses by a two hand made screws. The rim incorporates a raised convex band to the face. A pair of drilled holes at the rim are fitted with a length of tied suspension ribbon. This example produces a clean 'mid tone' when struck. Diameter - 9 3/4" (247mm), Height, (rim return edge to centre of boss) - 2 /34" (70mm). Weight - 735 Grams. Condition: Good. Signs of genuine age and usage, resulting in bruises and surface marks etc. A build-up of metal polish residue around the boss mounting points). No cracks or repairs. Natural colour and patina.
