Skilfully hand forged by a blacksmith from wrought iron. The pipe stem is of hollow 'square' section - the original forge welded constructional seam is clearly visible along the length of the stem. The circular bowl incorporates simple chiseled decoration. An applied 'ridge' is incorporated below the bowl and curved area of the adjoining stem - this element creates a rigid brace and forms the 'striking' edge if the pipe was used as a defensive weapon. A small sash, or belt, suspension lug is forge welded below the stem - see images. Length - 16 1/4" (413mm). Weight - 413 grams. Condition: Very Good. No cracks, no losses and no repairs. Natural colour and patina. Internal Ref: CA 1022
