Hand formed and worked from a single section of dense native ironwood timber - the surface skilfully polished to a superb finish. The shaped grip section incorporates a conical pommel and broad cylinder form collar to opposing grip extreme. The head is of slightly rounded lozenge form in section - flaring from the grip and then tapering inward to form the tip. The surface is inlaid with sections of hand shaped, worked and polished natural abalone shell - a dark organic pitch like resin bonds the sections of shell and forms a contrasting addition to the inlay. Size: overall length - 20 1/2" (521mm). Weight - 699 grams. Condition: Very Good, (untouched). A small shrinkage crack to an area of one ridge, (close to the tip - final image)) and one small section of abalone shell at some time lost, (neither of which spoil the appearance in any way). Signs of some genuine age. Fine natural colour and 'deep' patina. Internal Ref: O 1010
