Cast using the 'lost wax' process and forming a native village model group - this group much larger in size than generally found. The larger Menangkabau 'hall' building incorporates a removable central section of the roof, the front entrance and associated gable roof are detachable - the entrance section was flawed during the casting process, resulting in the left 'steps' not being fully formed, (this is original - lost wax casting of a complex form often would result with incomplete / flawed results) - see images. This building is accompanied by two smaller unique* cast brass village buildings. Both smaller buildings are also sectional in casting and construction. The roof surfaces are cast and hand tooled with complex relief form decoration - each example incorporates ornate finials to the upper pinnacles. * Each lost wax casting is a unique creation, the very process forms a brass original recreation of the wax core model created by the Artist(s). Size: Menangkabau hall: length - 11 3/8" (288mm), height - 11 1/2" (292mm) - weight: 2364 grams. Stepped roof building: height - 11 1/4" (285mm) - weight: 985 grams. Smallest example: height - 8 1/4" (210mm) - weight: 433 grams. Condition: Good. Signs of genuine age and usage resulting in surface marks and small bruises etc. Fine natural colour and patina.
