Description

A scarce, large hand raised brass baluster form offerings box, the convex cover is located by a collet type lip within the opening on the base section.
The surface is finished with bands of highly complex chased and embossed scrolling foliage and geometric motifs - incorporating a stylised 'Greek key'. The broadest area of the box is mounted with chiseled and embossed copper plaques, each one of which depicts an eighteen armed 'wrathful' deity.
The cover is also embellished with decorative copper panels, including a large central plaque. The central embellishment depicts a writhing celestial dragon - image 10.
Overall height - 7 1/2" (190mm), max diameter - 9 7/8" (251mm).
Weight - 1,098 grams.
Condition: Very Good. Surface marks etc. and other signs of genuine age and usage. Fine natural colour and patina.
