Dating from the mid 19th century, these fine examples are of square based form, hand constructed from heavy gauge beaten sheet copper. The 'lamp' form capitals are held in position by an integral central threaded linkage between the central candle sockets and the upper most shaft extremes - easily removed for cleaning away wax residue etc. The surfaces are tooled with a series of raised and shaped panels, each one embellished with deeply chiseled floral scrollwork. The recessed areas to the relief cutting are polychrome enamelled - creating a contrasting appearance. Engraved decoration to the exposed areas of copper further embellishes the surfaces. The exposed metal lattice-work, bases and capital interiors are finely gilded. Height - 6 13/16" (173mm). Total weight - 928 grams Condition - Good. Some signs of corrosion around the base edges, (consistent with genuine age and usage). The enclosed bases are slightly 'uneven' at the surface contact points to the corners. No enamel losses. No dents or cracks - no repair work. Fine natural colour and patina. Internal Ref: KA 1014
