Both examples are hand finished and worked form beaten sheet copper, each ewer of shouldered baluster form and resting on an enclosed circular foot. Applied serpents form the handles - jointed at the cover hinges. The serpent heads create finials to the shaped covers. The surfaces are embellished with deeply chiseled floral scrollwork panels. The recessed areas to the relief cutting are polychrome enamelled - creating a contrasting appearance. Engraved decoration to the exposed areas of copper further embellishes the vessels. The exposed metal latticework, bases and neck surfaces are finely gilded Height - 10 1/4" (260mm). Combine weight - 965 grams. Condition: Very Good. No enamel losses.
