The convex cover locates over a recessed collet type lip to the box opening - the cover precisely located by a notched 'key-way', (see image 8). The exterior is finished with highly complex and intricate polychrome floral designs and gilt-work. Scrolling vines incorporate boteh, or 'mir' motifs. Internally, the surface is finished in a gold lacquer ground, over which carnation blossoms are painted in black. Boteh motifs and geometric designs also embellish the interior. The base is of black lac finish, with no ornamentation. Max diameter - 8 3/8" (213mm), overall height - 6 1/4" (159mm). Weight - 698 grams. Condition: Fair - Good. Wear to the cover face, (consistent with age and usage). Other minor surface marks etc. No restoration work, no over-painting. Natural colour and patina. Internal Ref: K 1017
