Description

The pierced burner vessel is hand raised and worked from elements of beaten sheet copper and brass - the brazed and burnished constructional seams are clearly visible. A flaring circular foot supports the vessel when standing on a surface rather than in suspension. A brass collar embossed with traditional 'hooked cross' motifs is mounted below the upper rim at the opening. The pierced domed cover is located within the opening to the burner by a recessed and tapering lip. A brass lotus bud finial and embossed collar are mounted at the upper most extreme.
Additional brass elements forming 'shou' motifs are copper riveted in position.
The burner is complete with the original hand formed triple brass chain-link suspension and hook. Three hinged rings to the vessel couple to the suspension.
Overall height, suspended (approx.) - 18 1/2" (47cm). Height, burner - 9 1/4" (235mm).
Total weight - 675 grams.
Condition: Very Good. Surface marks and small bruises, slightly 'off vertical' stance. Signs of genuine age and usage. Fine natural colour and patina.
Internal Ref: H 1014
