Description
A heavy, finely hand formed and worked Hallmarked silver napkin ring. The external decoration incorporates a complex figurative vignette. Three figures to left of the lotus pad form cartouche are depicted carrying flags, or pennants. Each one of which is engraved with calligraphy - see images. The raised decoration is skilfully worked to the exterior - the internal surface is of 'smooth' appearance and not embossed, (a sign of quality).The final image, details the Hallmark - struck to an area of the plain interior, LUENWO (Shanghai c. 1890), Chinese character mark.
Diameter - 1 15/16" (49mm), height - 1 3/8" (35mm).
Weight - 1.51 oz Troy, (46.8 grams).
Condition - Very Good. No dents or cracks - no repairs. Natural colour and patina, not recently cleaned or polished.
