Description
Constructed from copper alloy (brass), the head incorporates a square faced 'hammer' to the upper extreme. The central area, with ridged decoration, is bored with a tapering shaft mounting socket. The surface is finished with chiseled floral scrollwork - typical embellishment of the Sindh metalworkers during the 19th century.The head is mounted with the original 'crescent' form wrought steel blade - tightly brass riveted.
Size: overall width - 5" (127mm), height - 4 7/8" (124mm).
Weight - 242 grams.
Condition: Good. A small loss to an area of the brass at the blade mounting, (see images). No losses at the blade tips. No repairs or reworking. Natural colour of patina.
