Description
This fine toasting fork is of Indian colonial, (possibly Scottish provincial), origin and dates to around 1840 - similar examples by the maker Peter Orr, (Madras, India), have been noted.Created from a single section of natural Asian Black Buck horn - trimmed and polished. Applied elements of hand worked high grade silver, (consistent with Sterling), form a cap to the grip area and fork head. The cap is tightly press mounted and fitted with a hinged central suspension ring. The long and tapering triple tined silver head is socketed and tightly mounted at the horn tip, (silver pinned in place - original).
No maker's mark found - nice quality throughout.
Size: overall length - 19" (483mm).
Weight - 192 grams.
Condition: Very Good. Minor surface marks etc. associated with usage. No repairs. Fine natural colour.
