Description

The vessel has been hand raised and formed from heavy gauge beaten sheet copper. Of baluster form, the teapot is horizontally 'crimp' jointed and brazed. The applied scrolling spout is panelled in form, rising from the shoulder and incorporating an inset section of polished turquoise stone above the spout opening. Of hollow form, the copper handle is tightly riveted in position.
The domed cover neatly locates within the top opening to the vessel - held by a recessed collet type lip. A hand formed copper alloy chain linkage, original, links the cover to a hinged ring type mounting at the handle. The cover is mounted with a large brass 'lotus bud' type knop.
The base of the spout and 'waisted' neck are embellished with tooled and embossed decoration.
Size: height - 12" (303mm), length - 12" (305mm).
Weight - 1152 grams.
Condition: Good. Signs or genuine age and usage, resulting in surface marks and small bruises, (untouched). No repair work. Natural colour and patina.
