Description
Of baluster form, the copper vessel is horizontally seamed at the broadest area - a 'crimp' jointed and brazed seam is formed at the vertical region behind the handle. Of hollow form, the copper handle is tightly riveted in position and incorporates a shaped mounting at the upper extreme. The stepped opening and integral spout rims are mounted with solid copper embellishment - the whole form of Buddhist 'Monk's cap' appearance.This example rests upon an applied tapering brass foot.
Internally, the ewer is fully tinned.
Size: height - 10 1/4" (260mm), width - 10 1/4" (260mm).
Weight - 631 grams.
Condition: Good. Signs or genuine age and usage, resulting in surface marks, (untouched). No repair work. Fine natural colour and patina.
